The NJ Pesticide Control Regulations requires that all
Pesticide Applicator Businesses operating in New Jersey
be licensed with the Pesticide Control Program (PCP). The definition of a Pesticide Applicator Business is a business or person who either wholly or in part holds himself out for hire to apply pesticides. (Examples: exterminators, landscapers, tree services, aerial applicators, pet groomers, etc.)
If you apply pesticides "for contract"
in New Jersey, state law requires your company to obtain
a Pesticide Business License.
Furthermore, you must have a Certified Pesticide Applicator for each location in the appropriate category, general liability insurance of $300,000 with chemical liability coverage. For fumigation services, a $500,000 in liability for bodily injury and property damage, including coverage for completed operations.
To register your business download the following form: Business License Form NJ
Follow the instructions at the top of the form. If completing in writing, print and do so clearly. Incomplete forms are not accepted. Submit the completed business application form in pdf format to: pestcertcourses@dep.nj.gov
After receiving the application form, the PCP will send you an invoice for the Pesticide Business License.
That invoice will be used to pay the license fee and upon receipt of payment, the license will be issued. License renewal is required each year. The license year ends on October 31 of each year. A renewal will automatically be sent to you before your expiration date.
